Cool Jersey, Cooler kid….

I spotted “Trevor” and the old “N” from a short distance as I was at the Cleveland Lake Erie Monsters game on Saturday.

"Is that Neal Broten?"

I was looking for dippin dots with my daughter but was immediately drawn to this kid.  Trevor is his name and cool hockey jerseys are his game.  I asked his dad who was also wearing a jersey (can’t remember which) if OK to put him on my blog.

The old North Stars Jerseys are a part of hockey history that will never return.  Kinda like the Cleveland Browns.  Both cities got teams back, but lost their souls.   Thanks Trevor.  Monsters lost in shootout, only to win the following day.  Cleveland may stink but Lake Erie Monsters don’t.  And Trevor, you RULE!

Inspiration comes from Egyptian Hockey, UPDATED with Response from Egyptian PRO hockey player!!!!

Thanks to Hockey Community for making us aware of this.  First the amazing video: Egyptian kids playing hockey in the middle of a mall.  An obscurely, beautiful Diana Ross song chirps “If there’s a cure for this, I don’t want until morning.”

The game is stunning, three stick tap face offs, and it’s go time. NOTE, YOU MUST CLICK ON VIDEO TWICE (ironically because of censorship from unfree countries, but it’s clean and works!):

Below is the email I sent. Anxious as I wrote it.  What do I say to a people who’s world is being torn apart?  One thing I know, If there’s a cure for that, the sooner the better.  I hope this works:

First off, I hope I find you and your friends and family safe.  I’m writing you from the USA.  Obviously, we have very little real comprehension of what is going on in your country, but I was hoping as part of the hockey fraternity, we can try to get a clear understanding.

If you are able, can you offer some insight into what is going on and what it’s like to be in the middle of it?  Also, I’m guessing it’s secondary but can you tell me about hockey in Egypt and how, if any, things have changed during the unrest.  Perhaps its still able to bring you some sort of normalcy and peace.  Please know that we care over here.

Your friends from Dangeroushockey.com

IT DID WORK!!!! The response below from my new hockey friend, Youssef Ossama seems to find them well.  His slightly broken english seemed positive and upbeat.  Most of all, its clear that they love hockey and are happy.  Which makes me happy.  Actual email:

Young Hockey Fans Teach LeBron Bobblehead a lesson

While as a parent, it wasn’t probably the best behavior to condone, but under the circumstances.  The hell with LeBron.

The Day I Missed Wayne Gretzky, a Life’s Lesson

I don’t have time to verify dates, but here’s the story in a nutshell.  Rick Chartraw (old-time fans will remember him as a badass/warrior with a couple of rings I think) somehow arranged to get me and my family to meet the Edmonton Oilers in 1984 as the faced the Penguins.

"I'm the geek in the jersey FYI."

Early we arrived.  Very early, to the team’s hotel to ensure we wouldn’t miss anything.  We did.  We missed “The Great One.”  According to his teammates, some of who you’ll recognize below, he was ALREADY at rink practicing. Hmmm, the greatest player in world was already practicing. So instead we spent about an hour having ice cream with the bust outs scattered about in photos:)

"Wayne's at practice, so I can score 70 goals."

Wayne went on to score like 4 goals and 4 assists in a 9-2 victory over the Penguins.  Happy BIRTHDAY, Wayne.

"Man this dude has great hair."

Honestly, we have no idea who this guy is? Anyone??

Exclusive interview with Islanders RE: Evgeni Nabokov

Once again, Dangeroushockey appears to have the “pro’s numbers.  Or wrong numbers depending on your point of view.  But we were lucky enough to get and “Exclusive Interview” with an unidentified HIGH RANKING member of the Islanders Organization.  Video:

Goal Stick Unfairly Shunned by NHL’s 3 Star system……

Pekka Rinne’s stick was, in my humble opinion, unfairly discriminated against for the NHL’s 3 stars of the week ending Jan 23rd.  This video:  may just be the play of the year and the stick was ignored.  NHL announced: 1.  Tim Thomas, 2.  Steven Stamkos, 3. Chunk Broudour.  All good weeks.  But a stick to make a game winning save for a team that’s fighting for a playoff spot, stunning.

Calls to the stick were not returned.

Can Hot Chick Lead Packers to Super Bowl?

Not so hot, but one of the best players in league.

“I texted Brett Favre my privates.”

The gender lines have been crossed in many sports.  And never has one been so universally appealing as when one of the hottest (figuratively and literally) chicks in sports, steps on Soldier Field this Sunday to face, “Da Bears.”

We are talking about flowing hair, a great ass (especially in yellow) and most importantly one of the most dominating linebackers in the game, Clay Matthew’s Jr.

Pull my hair will ya?

She’s playing in a sport dominated by macho men. Stone cold warriors, since the game’s inception.

Phone calls to the Matthew’s camp went unreturned.  Even though I spent over 15 years of my life rooting for her father.

However, this hasn’t been the first time in major pro sports that good lookin chicks have dominated their peers.  While she never won a championship, Ron Duguay

Gotta hand it to New York, they have Avery now...

(please, we’re all better than..) played over 15 years in the NHL.  And a couple of decades later the NHL was dominated by a young female from Czechoslovakia name Jaromir Jagr.

But this is different.  This is the NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE.  The face of American professional sports.  Sending a wonderful message to the world.  We are open to anyone who cankick the living crap out of another human being, regardless of age, race and now, gender. Way to go.  Good luck Clay.

"I shoot, I score. More than boys."
